Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all relocation services provided by AJ House Moving Limited (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”). By using our services or confirming a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. PRELIMINARY

  1. This agreement is between AJ House Moving Limited (the “Company”) and any person or entity requesting services (the “Customer”).
  2. The Customer is deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions upon confirming their booking or engaging the Company’s services.
  3. In these Terms, singular words include plural, and vice versa, and references to “the contract” include these terms and conditions and any associated quotes or confirmations.

2. DANGEROUS GOODS

  1. The Company does not transport or store any dangerous goods, including but not limited to, flammable substances, chemicals, LPG, petrol, or hazardous materials.

3. OUR QUOTE

  1. Any quotes provided are based on the details and information supplied by the Customer. Any changes may result in revised costs.
  2. All quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
  3. Prices are subject to change due to external factors such as tax changes or fuel surcharges.

4. COMPANY’S RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

  1. The Company reserves the right to refuse to accept goods for transport or storage without providing a reason.
  2. If goods are not adequately packed by the Customer, the Company reserves the right to refuse to transport them or to pack them properly and charge the Customer accordingly.
  3. All goods transported are done so at the “Owner’s Risk” unless otherwise stated in a specific agreement.
  4. The Company will not be responsible for loss or damage unless intentional.

5. OUR RIGHT TO HOLD THE GOODS

  1. The Company reserves the right to withhold goods until all charges are paid in full. The Company is also entitled to charge for any storage or additional costs incurred while holding the goods.

6. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that all items to be moved are ready for collection, and that no unnecessary items are left behind.
  2. Properly prepare any appliances or electronic equipment for transport.
  3. Fully defrost and clean any freezers or refrigerators before the move. The Company will not be responsible for any damage to the contents.
  4. Provide the Company with a valid contact address and details for correspondence.

7. LIABILITY

  1. All goods are transported at the “Owner’s Risk”, and the Company will not be liable for damage unless it is intentional.
  2. The Company will not be responsible for damage to internal walls, stairwells, or floors caused during the move unless expressly stated otherwise.
  3. The Company will not be liable for damage caused by vehicles to driveways, footpaths, or underground utilities if instructed by the Customer to access such areas.

8. PAYMENTS

  1. Payment is required immediately upon completion of the job unless otherwise agreed in writing. The Company accepts payments by EFTPOS or bank transfer.
  2. Additional charges may apply for services provided outside normal business hours or if special access or handling is required.
  3. If payment is not received on time, the Company reserves the right to withhold services or goods.

9. CANCELLATION POLICY

  1.  If a booking is cancelled less than 7 working days before the scheduled move, a cancellation fee of $149 will apply.

10. SUBCONTRACTING

  1. The Company reserves the right to subcontract any part of the services to third parties.
  2. All subcontracted services will still be governed by these terms and conditions.

11. OUR RIGHT TO SELL OR DISPOSE OF GOODS

  1. If payment is not made within the agreed timeframe, the Company reserves the right to withhold, sell, or dispose of the Customer’s goods. Any proceeds will be used to settle the outstanding balance, with any surplus returned to the Customer.

12. DISPUTES AND GOVERNING LAW

  1.  Any disputes arising under these terms must first be resolved through mediation before any legal action can be taken.
  2. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts.

13. ROUTE AND METHOD

  1. The Company reserves the right to determine the route and method for delivering services.
  2. If your goods share space with other customers’ goods, it will not affect the price or service provided unless otherwise stated.

14. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

  1. These terms and conditions represent the entire agreement between the Company and the Customer and override any prior discussions or agreements unless otherwise agreed in writing.
